This project was for a 10,557 square foot addition to the existing production facility of Nelco Construction located in urban Louisville, KY. Nelco makes, sells, and installs custom cabinets, countertops, and other casework, as well as distributes and installs food service equipment.
The project had several challenges including construction on a compact site, obtaining various agency and zoning approvals, and working around the existing production operations of Nelco that could not be interrupted during construction of the addition. The building utilized a pre-engineered metal building structure.
On this project, Prodigy was able to establish a project budget based on preliminary schematic design plans and was able to deliver the final project under the preliminary budget. The project had a hard deadline set for April 1, 2016 and four-month duration was complicated by the required local agency approvals needed in order to obtain a permit. However, Prodigy was able to work with the agencies and code officials to obtain foundation only approval in order to expedite the start of the site work and foundations in order to meet the aggressive schedule.
This project was a design build project using Prodigy’s in house design team along with Wolczyck Engineering Structural Consultants and Civil Design, Inc.
